Waiting is Hard

While waiting for my beta reader feedback, I told myself I would work on the next book.

In the beginning of July I sent off the fourth draft of my novel to be the beta version. According to my understanding, the beta reading period is over, and the feedback just needs to be compiled and sent to me. Should be easy enough, right?

Putting your writing out in the world can be hard. Every time I wake in the night I check my email to see if I have the feedback yet. Multiple times a day as well. I know I shouldn't look when I wake in the middle of the night, as if it's there I won't be able to go back to sleep. But then I realize I won't be able to go back to sleep until I check if it's there or not. Sometimes I imagine what the feedback will say. This morning as I woke I was dreaming it was there, so I knew it would be. I was wrong, however, so I still wait.

I told myself that this wait would be a lovely time to focus on the next book. I do have a solid start, but I have every excuse as to why I haven't got more. Soon enough, though, my focus will turn from book 2 back to Crack in the Drops, until I'm ready for my editor.

While I wait, I'll continue to imagine what my feedback will say. I have a fairly active imagination. :)
